I just stumbled across an entire year’s worth of photos on my camera, when I started taking photos of my apartment for the real estate ad. (It’s getting so close! I can’t wait to list it!)
An entire year! I can’t decide what feels worst about that: that I had never paused to download any of the photos, for 12 long months; that half of the events I captured were times with me, Derek and Zack (ouch); or that in an entire year, I’d taken just 180 or so photos…
All three statements say a lot about what 2012 was like for me. Busy, sad, blurry.
So all to the even better, that I found some simply breathtaking photos. They may be breathtaking to me because Garrison is my happy place, fall is my favorite season, and Zack is my favorite companion, but whatever the reason, I’m happy to indulge myself in enjoying them!
Your turn!

These are wonderful – and I so agree (and love) that a roll of film or a camera card can be like a time capsule, capturing a period of time with unexpected accuracy and poignancy. Lovely. xoxo
I love that even though the photos as a single entity say something less than wonderful about your year as a whole, the individual images say that there were clearly wonderful moments within it. Have been savoring these words from Glennon Melton this week: “Don’t worry about having a great day. Just have some great moments.” Hope you have some today.
Thank you, friend. It was wonderful to remember the good, because of course it’s often the pain that lingers.
I take so many photos that I can forget them at times. What a wonderful gift (even if it is a bittersweet one) it must have been for you to discover these all at once.
It was, indeed. So surprising and so interesting. I felt like I had stumbled into a movie about myself. So strange!
That tree moss! Like tiny stars set against the leaves. Quite beautiful.
I think it’s fun to discover these images, like treasure you tucked away and forgot about, and get to enjoy again. It’s such a joy to be able to revisit images of our children (especially), given how quickly they change.
gosh.
and what a year of growth it was.
very VERY excited to hear about impending Move and sale and new life.
brava, lady.
